Cortland
is unique from neighboring villages and cities because
it is an incorporated town. According to the year 2000 census,
Cortland had a population of 2,066 citizens. This news placed
it
as the third largest town in Illinois, with only Cicero and
Normal
having a larger population.
Since being incorporated in 1865, the Town of Cortland has
been characterized by hometown living in a warm community
atmosphere. Cortland is located along Illinois Route 38 and
Somonauk Road in DeKalb County.
